About us

Structural timber is assigned a grade dependent on its strength and stiffness values. These values have been determined and published in the Standard NZS3603, Timber Structures Standard. (See Verified Timber grades).

To ensure that companies producing structural timber are actually achieving the stated values for the grades they produce, a standard has been developed as a checking mechanism. The standard NZS3622, Verification of Timber Properties forms the basis of the Verified Timber programme.

Verified Timber Ltd has developed a quality assurance programme so that sawmillers producing structural timber can produce timber verified in accordance with the requirements of NZS3622.

Companies who are licensed by Verified Timber Ltd must adhere to the Verified Timber Quality Manual, which details practices and procedures for producing verified timber. Verified Timber licensees are subject to regular audit to ensure they are meeting all requirements of the programme.
